Andrew Mitchell loses PLEB libel case
Judge decided police probably telling the truth as the PC ' not the sort of man with the wit or imagination' to make it up.
Seems a fair summing up of PC Plod

Will cost Mitchell millions in costs and damages.

Should be (but am not given the legal profession) shocked that a case involving a bit of he said/she said about pushing a bike through a gate racks up millions (MILLIONS) of pounds (£) in 'costs'.
How exactly?
Whole thing should have been settled in an hour long meeting.

"Worrying that in a case of honesty involving an MP. It's assumed the MP is lying."

I don't think it's "worrying". It seems logical and predictable.

Actually, I don't care. It seems to me that Mitchell's a cunt (along with most politicians), the copper is a cunt (along with most coppers) and the judge is a cunt (along with most members of the legal profession).

Frankly, they all richly deserve each other.

Surely one would imagine that Tory politicians would learn how to conduct themselves in the public eye given their shoddy history.
He obviuosly thought that he would win this case with an air of pure arrogance due to his 'public standing'.

How wonderful it is to see the 'mighty' fall.

This has brought a smile to my face. Silly cunt.

As somebody said earlier, what a massive waste of money this whole debacle has been.

As for Mellor...

...worked for a newspaper web site some years ago and David Mellor was one of the columnists. (Semi) accidentally went live with some test data and the alt tag for his byline picture read "arrogant tosser" for almost three months. Got into a wee bit of trouble for that one.

Rumour has it than when the verdict was given Mitchell turned to the Judge and said 'I thought you people were here to f****ing help us?'

Re: Andrew Mitchell loses PLEB libel case
In any case, it hardly seems a very scientific or logical way of deciding what was said. It was one man's word against anothers.

Only if it doesn't fit your view of what might have been said

Re: Andrew Mitchell loses PLEB libel case
The judge decided the copper was probably too thick to make it up. This probably says as much about the judge's intellectual snobbery as Mitchell's.

In any case, it hardly seems a very scientific or logical way of deciding what was said. It was one man's word against anothers.

Well the judge thought he said plebs, is he a Labour activist?

SurfaceAgentX2Zero 8:22 Thu Nov 27
Re: Andrew Mitchell loses PLEB libel case
Amazing stupidity from Mitchell as he snatches defeat from the jaws of victory.

Surely he had already won. Nobody (apart from Labour activists) really thought he said 'plebs'. Or at least, there was enough uncertainty for them not to give a shit. Then he pursues a libel case with an entirely different burden of proof that he was certain to lose.

Dick-head.
